Audio Gumshoe Now On TuneIn Radio

Audio Gumshoe -- my podcast of original, independent music from around the globe -- is now on TuneIn Radio. TuneIn lets you listen to thousands of AM and FM radio stations, online programs, and podcasts at home or on the go with a single application.

Tunein_radio-2

There are several mobile apps already available:

Mobile_tunein
iPhone/iPod, Android, Palm, Blackberry, Samsung Bada

They also have home based apps for these:

Home_tunein
Google TV, Yahoo TV and Roku

Some of the features I most like include the ability to schedule recordings of programs, a sleep timer, an alarm function and the option to play the app in the background (at least on the iPod/iPhone). The app also includes a clock display for those that may like to dock their device while using it as a bedside or tabletop clock.

The easiest way to locate Audio Gumshoe for now is to use the browse feature in the app and simply type "audio gumshoe". You'll see it listed with an entire listing of show options.

Atomic Tom Jam On Their iPhones

I believe this is my new favorite music video. Great job, Atomic Tom.

Talk about better living through technology. Riding the New York City subway system just got a little more pleasant--thanks to a Brooklyn buzz band named Atomic Tom that has taken B Train busking to a whole other level with a handful of iPhones and whole lot of ingenuity.

The band recently had their musical instruments stolen, but in a brilliant lemonade-from-lemons move, that didn't stop them from jamming. And now, ironically, their iPhone-assisted music has garnered them more attention than their regular recordings ever did, as viral footage of them entertaining subway commuters with their iPhones and a battery-powered portable speaker system, playing their single "Take Me Out," makes it way around the Web.

This here's a "phoned-in" performance that actually works.

I Won a Ped3-U Ipod Stand from Thought Out!

A few days ago Thought Out (thoughtout.biz) ran a contest on Twitter. They asked people to share their Twitter handle alongside the @thoughtout brand. I did so and found that I won a FREE Ped3-U stand from them!

(download)

They were very quick to ship this. I received it this afternoon; I though it would be nice to share the un-boxing event with you.

According to their site:

The PED3-U universal stand holder works with any bare device or a device with a case or skin like the iPhone, iPod, Blackberry, Droid, Palm, Motorola, Smartphones and more. In portrait view or landscape the PED3-U is a fast and simple stand with protected over cupped holding fingers to accommodate any device while keeping it securely in the stand. Like no other stand, the heavy stable platform shape is made from one solid piece of steel in the USA. Keeping your cable where it belongs can be frustrating and this important, that is why we used our Thought Out exclusive split back™ cable management design.

P.S. I absolutely appreciate the new upload and layout interface that Posterous launched today. It rocks.

The 88 Record a Song on iPhone

The band The 88 recently used the iPhone app FourTrack to record the song "Love is The Thing."  You can learn about the process and watch the "making of" video:

Most of the song was done completely within FourTrack.  They used the iPhone to record the final vocals and backgrounds with an Alesis unit that would allow them to mix levels.  They mastered the entire track in ProTools.
